I worked at Cabela's

Pros

they did give me personal time off when i had a death in the family

Cons

mgmt couldnt write a schedule to save their lives. went many times with no lunch break or had to take it 2-3 hrs into my 9 hr shift or wait till the final hr of my shift to take it. if you worked hard they would throw u under the bus to cover for their screw ups.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

needs to have better mgmt training and communtication

    I have been working at Cabela's

    Pros

    Cabela's has the best gear and the best people. If you enjoy the great outdoors and being around others that share similiar interests, this is the place to work. The product discounts are good, especially with training and contests.

    Cons

    It is a retail environment, so for many positions that means having to work nights, weekends, holidays, etc., with occasional closing and then opening responsibilities the next day.

    Pros

    If you are into guns, fishing, hunting your employee discount may help.

    Cons

    There are necessary upgrades to their computer system (crashes, runs slow) which when busy and dealing with impatient customers is not fun. They spend money elsewhere on unnecessary items.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Set your priorities better. Spend time in an actual store, not a quick walk through. Speak to employees not the managers which mostly are clueless and protecting their own jobs.
