I have been working at Cabela's full-time for more than a year

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Great discount. Friendly atmosphere. They do a great job of hiring for higher positions from within the store. Excellect advancement opportunities. Very good at working with you on scheduling conflicts.

Cons

As with every retail job weekends are a must. Busy during hunting season and holidays but it dies out for a while from January-May or so.

    I worked at Cabela's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Cabela's is a premiere retailer and puts its customers and its Brand at the forefront of everything they do.

    Cons

    There are managers that run their areas and treat their employees with such arrogance and entitlement that it makes for a difficult work environment. These same managers do not consider promoting their employees but seem to get promotions for themselves. Their excessive hunting/fishing trips at the cost of the company are a priority while business can sometimes suffer. Managers who do not have children do not understand the need for work/life balance when it comes to illness or medical appointments. When issues are brought to the attention of HR, the managers prevail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employee surveys are conducted each year and are to be shared with employees and used as a tool to improve work environments. Yet there are departments that have not seen results for years.

    I have been working at Cabela's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    I was going to say their selection of merchandise. Unfortunately, you do not get your employee discount off the sale price. Sometimes the sale price is better than your discount.

    Cons

    Extremely HIGH turnover for retail.
    Low Pay.
    Horrible scheduling.
    Poor Managerment, many are lazy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take classes on HOW to manage employees. Bullying is not how it's done. I have witnessed employees going to HR with no results taken. HR is FOR the company. They will not stick up for you.
    It would be nice to know you actually care about us, but instead we seem to be nothing but a slave to rack up sales and credit cards.
