I have been working at Cablevision Systems as a contractor

Pros

location and flexibility of working hours, work life balance for the times in life when our priorities and focus shifts to family and spending more time at home

Cons

Company lacks good leadership and long term vision. Projects, initiatives and budget are managed as fire drills. every week consists of the emergency dejour. Organizational silos and self interest drives decisions. Poor employee performance and little innovation. Cablevision is 10 year late coming to the party they need to wake up and move fast if they want to stay around longer.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on innovation, reward business like thinking. Reevaluate all consulting vendors, bring in new vendor that are eager to accommodate lower rates. Performance manage employees and move them out of the comfort jobs. Need to shake out the company and bring in new spirit and drive. Create incentives and goals for cross company performance. Good luck.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems

    Pros

the health benefits are generous and there is a lot of overtime you can work

    Cons

there is no room for growth or to change protocols that have been proven inefficient, not to mention knowingly deceiving their customers through miscommunication

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the employees, if a valid concern is made known don't give them a certificate for having a good idea about it, escalate the concern and then reach out with whether or not it is something that can be changed and if not why? don't treat your employees as a number. As much as they should want to keep the job you should want to keep them too. Treating people as expendable resources is a recipe to have a revolving door of new people who you will have to retrain and lose all over again.

    Former Employee - Tech Support

I worked at Cablevision Systems (less than an year)

    Pros

Good opportunity to get your foot in the door. The calls aren't very technically challenging, pay is alright, and the benefits are good if you can get a full time position.

    Cons

Although not technically challenging, the job is stressful because management is always looking to get rid of people and they have all these metrics to analyze the techs that don't really have anything to do with helping the customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on helping techs to provide technical support, not setting them up to fail.
