I have been working at California Bank & Trust

Pros

Great people, well organized corporate structure. Management is generally strong and treat people fairly. Support people, especially in Utah are extremely polite.

Cons

Low pay. Credit Analysts at CBT are underwriters who get paid as if they were mere analysts. Plus, we have to clock in and out which is absurd for this type of position.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay employees more and they will stay longer. Turnover is high because of the low pay compared to competitors. And get rid of the time clock!

I worked at California Bank & Trust

    Pros

I'm grateful for what I've learned at CB&T.

    Cons

Very much an old boy's club stuck in the past way of doing business. The bank nickel and dimes its employees. For example raises are kept at around 3% and the rest is a bonus. It adds up the same for the year, however since raises are kept to a minimum, a person's salary does not compound.

Very hostile and intollerant atmosphere. It leads to employees having a 'who's to blame' mentality vs. a 'working as a team' atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs fresh blood and a modern approach to doing business.
Management needs to have a true understanding of leadership and not just a list of phrases 'work smarter not harder.' I can't tell you how many embarrassing meetings I've been at to have ideas such as 'Sigma 6'. thrown around with absolutely no suggestion on how to implement it. One can't just say that things need to be better with out a vision and a plan how to get there.

I have been working at California Bank & Trust

    Pros

The hours are the best. Mon -Fri 9-5.
Some of the employees are very nice to work with.

    Cons

Senior management has no clue what they are doing. There is no structure. Everyone does what they want to, and if you dont do things how they want you to, then you are on their bad list. If you do one thing poorly, you will get a 'friendly' warning and will lose your potential raise. If you get kudos from customers, you dont get anything from management. But if you do something to get a customer mad, you are in trouble and wont stop hearing about it for weeks. Managers will talk about people behind their backs and be smiles to them. Customers are okay, yet, they will act like they OWN you and the managers will let them think that way

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please get stucture and keep all policies the same throughout the company. It is SO disorganized. It is embarrasing to put the customers thru all of the inconsistancies. Also give the managers some interpersonal training. They all need to know how to talk to their employees. Give employees a chance and pay them accordingly.
