I worked at California Bank & Trust

Pros

It was easy to get a job there, and easy to move up. I was promoted twice in one year.

Cons

A widget based bank just like the rest, selling products to people who do not need them. Also they promotes idiots to management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Technology is way behind. They need to update almost everything. Also stop preaching customer service when you base promotions on sales.

The negotiation starts with the interview because once they suck you in, you will NEVER get it later!

    Pros

CBT is in an acquisition mode, which in this environment, means job security. There's plenty for you to do, and you are never bored.

    Cons

Pay, benefits, healthcare benefits are probably the worst in the industry. Negotiation upfront, or you will NEVER get it later. They like to bring in "cheap labor" (comparatively speaking) and hope that the employee is bright and a fast learner. It's a stepping stone place, but you might probably be paid better elsewhere. Promotions and training aren't handled even-handedly. It is all about favoritism and nepotism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Transparency and even-handedness in the salaries, vacation time, promotions, training.

I have been working at California Bank & Trust

    Pros

Great people, well organized corporate structure. Management is generally strong and treat people fairly. Support people, especially in Utah are extremely polite.

    Cons

Low pay. Credit Analysts at CBT are underwriters who get paid as if they were mere analysts. Plus, we have to clock in and out which is absurd for this type of position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay employees more and they will stay longer. Turnover is high because of the low pay compared to competitors. And get rid of the time clock!
