The people at CCA are great, but upper management needs to go.

Pros

Great group of people working at CCA. It's easy to get to know a lot of people and learn more about food if you aren't teaching a food class. Student body is diverse, and it's a great place to get some solid teaching experience.

Cons

Corporate is running the place into the ground. A school with a once-respected reputation now gets a bad name among people looking to hire CCA grads. No recognition by corporate of adjunct faculty - no benefits unless you buy them yourself, and no PTO despite working 10 hour days. No degree program anymore.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

When cutting costs, corporations usually cut from the top down. In this case, corporate cut positions from the bottom-up. Why chop down the foundation? There is a demand for college degrees, but the degree program was cut in favor of an accelerated certificate program. If the price of the degree program had been lowered, you could have remained competitive while still making a profit.

    Control and micro management

    Pros

Get to help students. Students are sweet and full of ambitions. But little did they know, the school only interested in their money and financial aid.

    Cons

Micro managerment. When I say that I meant employees have to clock in and out on the dot. You have two 15 minutes breaks. You have to log out at your manager desk on your way out.
    No career opportunities.
If you don't hit goals, you are expected to be in your cubicle all day, everyday.
    No support from upper management.
    Lies and false promises.
    Greedy corporation. Own by CEC.
Mediocracy. Same tasks everyday while upper managements monitoring your every moves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stood up to the company, continue to lead and believe in changes. Sadly, they are all too jaded and too worry about losing their job, so they stay miserable. Imagine how an unhappy manager could impact your day!!!!

    Pros

The pay was adequate. Enjoyed working with students though the caseload was too high to actually help students with job search.

    Cons

California Culinary Academy is owned by an unethical, multi-national, for-profit corporation. They con low-income individuals into high-interest loans promising a "great career" in the restaurant industry. Unfortunately the education is sub-par, the reputation of the institution tainted making it difficult for individuals to actual achieve employment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice. The entire system is corrupt. Education should not be administered by for-profit institutions traded on the stock-market.
