risk aversion will be its downfall

Director (Former Employee)
Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsYou really have to mess up badly to get fired from Canada Post corporate. People are afraid of having too much work to do, so they compensate by keeping too many people employed.

ConsLack of ambition, creativity, willingness to assume risk, ability to innovate. Very frustrating to hear daily that the organization needs to innovate, and then see decisions being made to the contrary.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to invest in smart employees and experiment with new revenue opportunities with a greater risk appetite. Adopt more of a portfolio approach to innovation so that a greater number of smaller successes can occur.
