Canada Post – “A place for the useless to be placed away from the better company's”

There are none now, many employee's are caught guarding their pensions. A popular game is how many weeks left to go before you can retire.
Cons
Management that cannot think for itself, performance is to be achieved at any cost, yet it rarely is. Money and the budget drive everything, not even union contracts are to be honored if at all possible. The employees are told what to do how to think with propaganda schemes. management routinely violate contracts with if you don't like it grieve it, which can take up to four years to go through the system and then admit guilt before moneitary penalties are levied against them. Bad managers are promoted rather than fired.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring back promotion from within the ranks, remove bad managers, get some real ideas that work on the delivery floor.

All this changed about five years ago around 2003-04 management adopted a very aggressive stance towards staff, we were asked to fill in surveys about job satisfaction and our view of the direction AP was going, I don't have problem with surveys but the underlying motives were very sinister, to get rid of long term employees like myself and many others.
Obviously the end game for AP is to lower costs by having the majority of employees on contract or casual or part time thereby avoiding holiday pay, sick leave etc.
We got an idea something big was in the planning stage several years ago, a friend who plays golf met some people at a course close to the mail centre, turns out they were from head office in Melbourne they were a planning group bragging about what they had in store for the organization, how they were going to shake up the place it's a pity now the integrity of the mail is under suspicion because of cost cutting.
I'm sure some people reading this will see me as a disgruntled former employee, let me assure you this is not the case I'm still in contact with former colleagues still at AP who tell me it is even worse now with more persecution especially at the lower levels.
