Pros

Flexible hours and easy to work from home when needed. Helps maintain work-life balance.

Cons

Management must work in the field, on trains during strike situations as well as when there are shortages in operations. Training is given for field ops but as it is not your day job, you will not feel safe running the trains.

Advice to Management

Do away with forcing management to work in the field.

    Pros

Very good company to grow-up with.Paid for most of my university education at McGill University.I was with CN from 1964-1978 in various depts.at System H.Q. and St.Lawrence Region,i.e.,Administration,H.R.,Passenger Sales and Services and Revenue Accounting.

    Cons

I left in 1978 due to the election of the P.Q.Government in Quebec. They were hiring individuals off the street because they spoke French, ahead of University graduates. There was also a push to hire females regardless of education and language. They definetly caved in to the Governments demands, particularly the Government of Quebec.

    Advice to Management

By hiring U.S. citizens from Chicago certainly didn't help the cause any.
