Good, stable company but very much like working for the government.

I have been working at Canadian Tire

    Pros

Stability, vacation, location. Better work-life balance than any other retailer

    Cons

Resistant to Change, nepotism, opportunities for growth or lateral moves. Opaque management decisions. Self-serving decisions by management compared to what is best for the actual health of the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

bring more people with industry-standard expertise and experience. far too many senior people at the company have never worked anywhere else and operate in a bubble. We are constantly trying to re-invent the wheel when the problems we face have already been faced and overcome by other companies.

I have been working at Canadian Tire

    Pros

Great people, great atmosphere. Had a nice career. Great for people with families- a very family oriented place. Would recommend. Lots of perks, great benefits.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunity for advancement. Salaries are lower than the average. Culture is not very innovative. Technology is a bit behind the times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need better knowledge sharing environment and more tech savvy people. Value seems to be weighed highly on the side of a person's ability to navigate political situations rather than on job related competencies.
