I worked at Canadian Tire part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The individual ownership of each store allowed for a more personal relationship with management and the owner of the store. The hours were very flexible and there was plenty of opportunity to be cross-trained in the different departments within the store.

    Cons

Some of the rules set by the manager were odd, such as not being able to drink from a water bottle during one's shift, and the scheduling system could have been better.

  2.

Very agile for a big national multi-brand retailer.

I have been working at Canadian Tire full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people, great focus and purpose, strong engagement across the family of companies.

    Cons

Always a challenge to move more quickly, not get bogged down in processes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to articulate very clearly to employees about the high-level strategy and the direction we are taking the company. This has become a big positive in the last year or so. Keep it up. Authentic communication from leadership down has gotten better and needs to be kept up.
