Pros

Challenging working environment, highly motivated and dedicated staff who are committed to working for a very good cause. There is also an excellent work life balance. Everyone is very supportive and the working environment is highly collegiate.

Cons

There are not many downsides of the organisation; but if I was pushed I would say that it takes quite a long time to progress in the company. Also, the salary is lower than equivalent jobs in the private sector but that's to be expected.

Advice to Management

Clearer staff progression guidelines

    Pros

    Amazing cause
    Some very dedicated people

    Cons

Far too many people in Director / Head positions. Many of them promoted because of time served rather than skill or input
Salaries paid to those in Director / Head roles are unrealistic and not reflective of their impact
    Inconsistent approach to appraisal
    Culture of favouritism
Many people not having the impact they should
Lack of leadership in support functions means organisation isnt efficient
Organisation really needs some new blood and a 'fresh pair of eyes' despite rebrand has become stale an institutionalised

    Advice to Management

Rationalise senior positions and ensure 'value for money' on salary spend
Bring in new people with new ideas and perspectives (but stop forcing them out when their faces dont fit with the old tired cohort)
