Pros

works on sequeal of a title with name recognition
decent office building

Cons

poisonous politics culture.
employees treated like any other disposable assets.
poor quality code base that i had to work on.

    Pros

    Vancouver a great city to work and live in if you can afford it; good people outside of EPs and senior management; beer on the premises. Once you do time here, any other company you work at afterwards will feel like heaven by comparison and you'll always have this useful reference point for how bad a workplace can get.

    Cons

    Where to begin? The other reviews here pretty much tell it true: the laughably obsolete tech, candor invariably punished, promotions and filling of senior positions based entirely on lack of creative credentials, goal-posts are in constant flux (which is never acknowledged) and arrived at by whimsy. The intelligent flee or are miserable. Dread permeates every meeting. Unrelenting staff turnover. Creative paralysis with periodic whirlwinds of chaos and power jockeying. No vision, sense of direction, vision or accountability at the top tiers.

    Advice to Management

    Promote and reward talent rather than sycophancy. Get rid of institutionalized practices of self-destruction. Admit the root of the company's most systemic problems is staring at you in the mirror.

    Pros

    Great people. Decent pay. Studio BBQs. Great art department. Capcom IP. HR department finds good people to staff the studio.

    Cons

    This is not really "Capcom" since they don't share anything with the broader Capcom family of studios. In-house tech is a mess both functionally and at the level of the source code. Development workflows are universally terrible, if they work at all. Promotions are based on how well you mask issues and preach how great everything is.

    Design department is a joke. It's staffed with amateurs who contribute bad ideas. Toolset is so archaic they can hardly contribute to the game directly, so maybe this is a good thing.

    Executive team comes from design/business background and lack the qualifications to run a studio of this size. Exec team consistently fails to be honest and transparent about state of development in the studio. Execs are constantly shifting blame on 'lazy' workers. They hand promotions to whoever rocks the boat the least. Critics are ostracised, ridiculed and even fired.

    Advice to Management

    License an engine. Concentrate on workflows instead of 'features'. Trust your employees. Rebuild the design department. Acknowledging issues doesn't make you look weak, it makes you look smart.
