Capital District Physicians' Health Plan – “Look elsewhere for Information Technology work”
Pros
You pay next to nothing for good health insurance.
Includes in-house gym with locker room and showers, cafeteria with great menu selection, and a tuition reimbursement program
Outside of the Information Technology and Medical Affairs departments, it can be a very pleasant place to work
Cons
Actual words from senior IT management after we completed a difficult upgrade project on a mandatory 45-hour/week minimum and complained about being compensated with a $600 bonus and 2% pay increase: "What are you going to do, find another job?"
Highly-charged political environment. Expect to find yourself in frequent conflict with managers.
Expect to have your vacations canceled at the last minute and sleep interrupted constantly for trivial "emergencies"
If you don't need the health insurance, there is higher base compensation for less hours worked with better advancement opportunities in other industries.
Advice to Senior Management
You must be doing something right. You get fat paychecks and big bonuses. Your turnover rate is a crying shame, however.
