I worked at Capital Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good salary
    - Company has a giving culture, really cares about the community
    - upper mgmt was accessible, but one has to be aggressive to access them.
    - Very nice retirement plan

    Cons

    - Lacking a meritocratic culture (outside the investment group)
    - Far too many middle managers to be efficient
    - Too much bureaucracy
    - Not enough work place flexibility; my job could have been done from anywhere in the world with hi-speed internet, but I still had to sit in a cubicle 10 hrs a day
    - Not much in the way of internal development for associates

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move to more flexible work options. The digital age has untethered us so I think it makes sense to untether your employees from the cubicle. Also, loyalty is great but you really need to have a meritocracy in order to keep the best and brightest. Offer the same kind of development to all associates that is offered to associates in the TAP program. Leverage more of your human capital by instituting open forums for problem solving bigger company issues. Management does not have a monopoly on strategic thinking.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

pays well, decent benefits, nice campus

    Cons

no socializing, no talking, no laughing, no enjoyment. If you are the stereotype accountant - you will love this place. If you have an inkling of a personality - run!
