    I worked at Capital One

    Pros

Good benefits and work life balance.

    Cons

Few opportunities for promotions. Company has become more process-oriented and requires so much approval to get things done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees and provide them the ability to fully utilize their skills and creative thinking.

    Inconsistencies everywhere

I have been working at Capital One

    Pros

Benefits, compensation and paid time off.

    Cons

Inconsistency in treatment of employees - favoritism runs rampant, and those who kiss up really do get ahead, while those who knuckle down and work hard are passed over. Also, inconsistency between departments is appalling. While COF has been recognized by Working Mother, I have only known 1 person in 3 departments who has been able to work a flexible schedule. In my current department, I was turned down flat without any reasoning why, and the person who was allowed just gets promoted more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really look at who is promoted and why. Too many people with poor leadership abilities and people skills are promoted and they shouldn't be managing people.
