I have been working at Capital One full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Opportunities to network across financial services divisions, positive environment for collaboration, focus is on hiring top talent, and a wide array of special events to spotlight the employee.

    Cons

Focus is on too many projects. Each division has their goals to achieve, which requires cross functional teams. The result is managers are mired in too many meetings and the time it takes to complete is lengthy. Most projects take 8 to 12 months to complete because of all the levels to approve and committees that need to review. The focus is on top talent, but there are some employees that have come on board from acquisitions and have their heels dug in on how processes should be even though they are outdated compared to the marketplace. The recognition program is focused mainly on front line staff, leaving out the mid level managers
who feel sandwiched between some employees who feel entitled to be recognized and their manager who continue to push down on mid level managers for recognizing staff without giving them recognition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid to get in the weeds and understand the process flows, which benefits overall appreciation at every level.
