Pros

Very open and collaborative culture. Plenty of growth opportunities. Bold and all inclusive environment. Management is suupportive of fresh ideas from all levels. The trainings offered and benefits are the best among same industry.

Cons

constantly changing org structure and work priorities may be sometimes be very challenging. Communication and presentation overweighs technical skills.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be accomodative of those who may not be great communicators but may have excellent analytical and technical abilities.

    Pros

    401k plan benefits for part timers, 2 weeks vacation after one year of service, generally pleasant atmosphere

    Cons

    Dressy attire required, usually sitting at your station all day except for an hour lunch break, long banking hours (8:15am- 6:30pm), can be stressful (bank robberies, etc)

    More educated employees should be hired

    I have been working at Capital One

    Pros

    - Merit-driven performance mgmt and compensation increases
    - Transperent strategies, shared with associates on a regular basis (CEO talks to most exempt-level associates at least once every year)
    - Performance ratings are "calibrated" across people in similar jobs/levels - adds fairness to the process vs. based simply on manager discretion
    - Colleagues are very capable and competent
    - FUN place to work

    Cons

    - Lot of change, fast-paced (although plenty of opportunities to balance work-life during off peak times)
    - Interview process is very rigorous and highly selective...makes it difficult for managers to hire external candidates
    - Pay policy is fair, but not a "premium pay" approach (although talent selection is geared towards top notch)
