Pros

Expectations of individual performance are very high and are reflected in the quality of work produced. Work environment is highly competitive, magnifying the level of effort given ny associates. Mobility between roles is openly discussed and encouraged.

Cons

Highly bureaucratic structure results in excess deliberation over high impact projects creating huge lags in decision making process.

Advice to Management

Trust the intuition of your business and much more meaningful work will get some

    Pros

Not much. You are just a number.

    Cons

Managers not worried about customer service. Only worried about sales.

    Advice to Management

Set some minimum standards for managers

  2. Great company with great people, need more focus on defining strategy.

    Pros

Great education and training opportunities. Very associate centered culture, strong desire to be a good corporate citizen and 'win' in the market. There are a lot of great people who are professional and open to collaborating.

    Cons

Ivory tower syndrome in upper management who often have selective perception regarding input from lower level staff. Lots of stress in middle management; which is the result of the daily changing strategy and the expectation of knowing what the flavor of the day is without being told. Constantly changing agenda/strategy.
The rating is determined in management calibration sessions which rate your performance against everyone else at your same level (not job title). So if someone at your level has gone above and beyond (which always occurs), this then creates the standard for which you should've followed. This makes it impossible to set goals and be confident that if you've met them you've performed well, since you are ranked against your peers not against goals set by you and your manager. This process leads to less teamwork and knowledge sharing and more individualism. Technology is lacking and in some ways is less than the industry standard.
Lack of communication from upper-level management.

    Advice to Management

Upper management help lower management instill enthusiastically the energy senior/executive leadership has on company mission, values, objectives, etc. Don't "leave them out."
