I have been working at Capital One full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great culture! People are very nice. Managers are well trained and professional.
Have opportunities to try different positions, find the best for yourself!
Richmond is a great place to live for many people.

    Cons

Culture in different team could differ vastly. You might feel very comfortable in one team, but totally wrong in another team.
Capital One looks for very specific type of person and promote well - if you deviates a bit from that bar, things are not going well.
Capital One has a huge campus in Richmond - for those who are curious about outside world, location is a big con.
    Salary not very competitive.

    Politics trump all

I have been working at Capital One full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work from home options, onsite gym, onsite dining options

    Cons

Much nepotism in the Manager and Sr. Manager roles. No emphasis on people management. Yearly reviews rely too much on politics and not on results. Frequent layoffs. A chicken-little mindset in response to quarterly stock results. They often sacrifice long-term stability and strength for short-term benefit. Expect to work 60 hour weeks all too frequently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to clear house with the middle management. You also need to scrap the current yearly review process and start anew.
