Capital One Director:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

When I left Capital One, I was sure my new position would offer all the fulfillment I felt I was not getting. It only took 6 months to realize what I had left behind. Capital One genuinely allows employees to grow and become whatever they have the desire to be. Its provides training and makes a concerted effort to help every associate be successful. I miss the flexibility and growth potential I had. I really miss the work-life balance!! Capital One treats you like an adult, allows you to make decisions and be responsible for your team. Management understands when you need to go to a school play or take an afternoon for a doctors appointment. Moreover, they pay really well compared to the market. It was after losing all the various benefits, did I realize how much they were truly worth.

Cons

As with every company, there is politics and inept managers. Unfortunately Capital One's performance process allows a lot more of that than there should be within such a dynamic organization. I ended up leaving because of inept management and felt that I had no way to be successful in an organization I truly enjoyed being a part of.

Advice to Senior Management

Listen to employees when they have specific problems with management. I saw lots of good people leave over time because of their manager.
