I have been working at Capital One full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, ability to work from home, although that's becoming an issue depending on who you work for, good peers, decent benefits

    Cons

Some Sr. leaders have hangups on the flex work schedule, the culture in our dept is NOT open regardless of what they'd like to think, favoritism is a huge problem and demoralizing, no matter how hard some people work they are not recognized for it. There are too many growing pains and the mortgage business can't get its act together. They keep putting people in charge of the mortgage area who have no experience in mortgage and have no understanding of the meltdown of 2008. There is no work/life balance in some areas. Performance mgmt process is a joke. If sr mgrs don't like someone, they will not be an advocate for the associate for rating purposes. The culture is the strangest of any company I've worked for and is almost cult like or clique-ish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to associates who try reaching out HR or through the surveys. If you want people to be open then don't shut someone down because they express their concerns.
