I worked at CarMax full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great sense of community, varied work environment, forward-thinking company with great training-honestly only left because of the hours; I needed to have Sundays off consistently

Cons

retail hours, certain departments have too much of a sink or swim mentality, location was often understaffed leading to stress and poor work performance

I have been working at CarMax full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good company that treats you well. Learn new things and interact with different departments everyday. Learn a lot about cars. Manager level. People at the company are good.

    Cons

High stress job; more physically than mentally. On your feet and sometimes in the elements for most of the day. Salary is on the lower side of the industry.

I worked at CarMax part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working with cars. Drive different cars. Indoor and outdoor work.

    Cons

Working outside when it is too hot or too cold or too wet.
    Micromanaging managements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Micromanaging is ok but when it is done too much, then it shows that management does not trust the employees. If you cannot trust your employees, then you need to revamp the selection/hiring process.
