I worked at CarMax as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Carmax allows for a great work life balance, boasts an on-campus fitness center, and gives analysts the chance to work on interesting projects

Cons

There aren't a lot of options for grad school sponsorships and the work can seem monotonous at times. The office is also in a very rural area.

Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing

    Pros

Very High Associate Engagement. Managers truly care about their employees and works with them to help them get to the next level in their career.

    Cons

Senior Managers are not trusted to work their own schedule. They are required to work a mandated schedule that doesn't always correlate to the sales traffic

I have been working at CarMax full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Demo, stock options and vacation.

    Cons

You are taught not to think and be fed a lot of unnecessary training. Managers are not allowed to express their thoughts. If they do it's career suicide.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying to people during interview process. Integrity applies to LGM's and RVP's too! Promotions are impossible unless you are chosen. Results don't matter here. Try to be a sales manager then hope for best after that cause it gets worse from there.
