Pros

Great benefits, low pressure environment, and ability to work part time or full time. CarMax not only believes its equities such honesty and integrity but they practice them too. They try there best to do what is best for the customer and they truly are a customer first dealership. Employees get discounted prices on cars which is great as well.

Cons

The pay here is not as high as other dealerships, and the job has very policy oriented management. Point system for attendance is a bit excessive at times.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow for lenience on policies as they can hinder success at times.

    Pros

    Dynamic in the sense that day-to-day job changes, not a lot of time is spent doing nothing, everyone seems to genuinely enjoy coming to work.

    Cons

    The pay is a joke, constantly talking about moving up with the company makes it seem as if managers feel the need to sell the idea to me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay should definitely be based on experience or at least incorporate experience when determining initial raise, there should be a more controlled training process.

    Pros

    Great advertising drives steady customer traffic. Improved focus past year on customer satisfaction and product quality.

    Cons

    Low commision rates require you to hustle and see as many customers as possible. Redundant training whether you need it or not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Too much emphasis and time spent on meetings for training, listening to recorded calls, monthly reviews and annual performance reviews with managers driven to satisfy metrics and quantity versus quality. Mgrs hired from outside at higher negotiated salaries rather than promoted from within is discouraging to anyone wanting to move up.
