Pros

Lots of different projects to work on, enjoyable peers that can teach you new skills.

Cons

Upper management doesn't care about their employees anymore. Constant layoffs and they lie about the health of the company. They have fired about a quarter of the company so far this year. More layoffs are expected.

Advice to Management

Don't treat your employees like sheep, create realistic expectations for growth.

  1. This company is ok for those seeking an entry level job, but not for motivated individuals looking to start a career.

    Pros

Most of the people at the company are friendly and fun to work with. Lower level managers are friendly and approachable, and seem to genuinely care about their employees.

    Cons

Management is completely disorganized and has a high turnover rate. Employees are often assigned to jobs above their qualifications with little supervision by a qualified coworker. In my opinion this company values individuals who will pretend they know what they are doing over more qualified individuals who are honest about their limitations. Also, receiving an email every 2 weeks about less than anticipated quarterly profits and layoffs does not facilitate a positive work environment. Finding a new job was the best career move I ever did.

    Advice to Management

Develop a training and mentoring program for your employees. There is nothing worse for a motivated individual than to have a superior or mentor say they do not have time to help you, or tell just do what you think is right when approached with a legitimate question. There are a lot of smart scientists and engineers at the company who could educate one and other, however no effort is made to facilitate that due to the cost.

  2. A solid company being mismanaged into the ground

    Pros

Provides a variety of projects, the ability for self starters to expand existing skill sets, and very little micromanagement of work/products.

    Cons

The shift to a publically traided company has been far from smooth, and upper management is ill equipped to deal with the subtleties of managing staff and stockholders. Technical staff is provided little oversight or administrative support and often succeeds in meeting client needs in spite of management.

    Advice to Management

Upper management seems completely unaware of what goes into providing client services on an office level.
