I worked at Cargill

Pros

Good resource manager, gave good direction to the team. Was open to ideas and flexible. Should not have relied as much on the PMs since they were not very technically savvy

Cons

No structure. The Project manager wore multiple hats and did not let the dev team do its job. Over promised and under delivered. Did not have a good grasp on the product being used.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a better grasp on the team and work being done. Deicde where the money should be put. Have the job descriptions more clear

    I worked at Cargill

    Pros

It is a place where talent is developed, everyday is very busy if you want a challenging and dinamic work enviorment this is for you.

    Cons

It is a place where talent is developed yet sadly many times the intellectual capital developed leaves to the competition for increased compensation. In addition, some talent may leave because they are poorly managed; it only takes one weak link in management to break the development chain. Employees may tend to resign not because they are not committed to the company but because of poor management of a senior manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior leadership has undergone a changing of the guard. This new senior leader should take inventory of management and who should stay on the bus or be removed. As the numbers do not lie high turn overs of exceptionally talented and developed employees is an indication of a weak link in the management team hampering the evolution of Cargill Americas Marketing group from a Good to Great business unit for Cargill, Inc.

    Pros

Opportunities to move within company, factory is busy so plenty of work to be done.

    Cons

Random layoffs and moving staff around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire people if you intend to lay them off only several months later despite good work performance.
