    I worked at Cargill

    Pros

Good peer interaction and extracurricular activities such as sports and events are attended religiously. Lots of workplace camaraderie. Decent benefits for full time workers. Good recruitment programs. Lots of job opportunities throughout the US and International locations. Lots of in house training.

    Cons

inexperienced upper management at the local levels. There were too many upper level site managers with little experience as leaders trying to lead an older and more experienced group of middle management and production staff. They are tossed into the leadership fray based on education and without much needed OJT technical experience. At times they appeared indecisive and overwhelmed with business decisions. Poor treatment of temp workers...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give potential site managers more time in the production / business fields before giving them command of the whole unit. Trail by fire is not the business community's preferred method of training as far as I know but it seems to be the norm for Cargill..

    No opinion of CEO
