Cargill Intern:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Stability, location, company size, decent pay

Cons

Everything - stuffy culture, at the non management level ideas are not valued, LACK OF DIVERSITY IN THINKING, lack of support from upper level managment. Managers do not value employees as much as they should.

Advice to Senior Management

This company lacks diversity and is in need of a organizational development change strategy for to enhance the culutre of the organization. Managers are insensitive to diversity issues and the nature of the business produces many stereotypes regarding employee's sensitivity to diversity. The recuriting of Cargill at HBCU schools will not help make Cargill become a diverse organization. Diversity starts in the mind and thinking of the employees and is not solely in representation. I hope Cargill will catch on to this soon and be able to embrace diversity as well as other area Minneapolis companies such as General Mills and Target who do an excellent job in this area. Cargill is behind the times.
