Intellectually interesting, but virtually no opportunities for promotion or advancement

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsOn the plus side, Carnegie has assembled a world-class group of experts working on timely issues. The work is intellectually interesting and I feel like I learn something new most days.

ConsThe pay at Carnegie is anemic and rigidly reviewed only once per year. Opportunities for advancement are non-existent. Pay and job responsibilities stay virtually the same from the day you arrive to the day you leave. Realistically, the only way up is out.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Very useful and beneficial internship, especially for Political Science/Diplomacy and related faculty students.

I worked at Carnegie Endowment for Intl. Peace as an intern for more than a year

Pros: Great team and boss who really care about the interns. They are very flexible with students' schedules and aren't overly demanding, though you will… Cons: The one negative aspect of the internship was that it's a fairly new organization, so the team is still… Advice to Senior Management: Keep up the good work. Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company… More
