I worked at Carnegie Mellon University as an intern for less than a year

Pros

1. You get to meet and work with many top researchers in the world in the fields of decision-making, marketing and social psychology.
2. Pittsburg is a very nice town, a lot of activities to engage in and places to explore.
3. There are many great restaurants near the University, Chinese food, Indian food, Italian food, and they are cheap.

Cons

The internship is not paid although your housing is provided.

I have been working at Carnegie Mellon University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I am in the chemistry department, the atmosphere is mostly friendly with a lot of support and collaboration.

    Cons

A few of the faculty members have large intellectual egos and do not like to be questioned in any way. There is no recourse as a graduate student if they dislike you and try to get you out of their group based solely on their personal reasons. I am not the only person who this has happened to, and most people do not get a chance in another group after their adviser decides they do not like you
