Pros

Strong work/life balance, staff is engaged and in and proud of the CMU environment and reputation, ability to attract talented staff, strong focus professional development, nice campus.

Cons

Typical academic beaurocracy - takes a long time to get anything done, career success is often greatly influenced by who you can schmooze.

Advice to Management

Value staff in the same way you value students and profs.

I have been working at Carnegie Mellon University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work responsibilities are fair and clearly outlined. CCon work is a pretty easy way to earn some money while earning your degree.

    Cons

The management tries to make the CCons socialize with our coworkers. I appreciate the sentiment and the goal of forming a community, but it is really just an extra responsibility.

  2. Ok nothing great about it
