I have been working at Carter's full-time

Pros

All levels of management can bonus,
Company is very organized,
Great training program,
Opportunity for development

Cons

Terrible payroll,
Upper management has no idea what it's like to work in the store,
Unrealistic goals for bonus,
Unrealistic expectations for store with payroll (shrink, sales, perfect presentation,etc.),
Registers are from stone age,
Poor pay compared to competitors,

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want better results, you need to allow better payroll. Having one to two people in the store at a time can only do so much when there's shipment, recovery, sale sets, floor moves, reactionary merchandising, customers, paperwork, hiring, etc.

    I have been working at Carter's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Lots of resources available, money to spend, generally nice people on the surface, pleasant working surroundings

    Cons

    Crazy hours, being asked to do way too much, no strategic plan for accomplishing the company's goals, very political place - in the midst of a transaction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Show some leadership, narrow focus, articulate that the company is going under a transformation, and DO SOME ORG DESIGN - make the right roles & titles for the right jobs

    I worked at Carter's part-time

    Pros

    During my time with this company, I found the employees to be generally personable. The customers, primarily parents and grandparents of young children and expectant parents, were friendly.

    Cons

    Schedules are completed on a week-to-week basis, with frequent changes over the course of the week.
    The hours were extremely limited, even for those associates with flexible availability.
    The store relied heavily on an on-call staffing system, with responsibility on associates to check on scheduling needs.
    Management seemed to be driven solely by sales numbers with little regard to the customer experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Do not ignore the overall customer experience for the sake of increasing sales.
