  1. Great benefits, stagnant environment... with a definite glass ceiling for advancement.

    Pros

Like most people have said the benefits might be best thing about the job. In certain areas the tip money could be unbelievable.

    Cons

Horrible top down management practices. Best example CEO sends out a letter after an employee survey, which lists top concerns as low pay, lack of advancement opportunities and lack of training and development. Same letter, CEO says he has heard the employee concerns and the employee dining facility now has a carving station and flavored creamers. Yay!!!

In line with the actual employee concerns... management does pay a lot of lip service, and spends a lot of money on training, development, etc... And then consistently goes outside the company to hire for major positions, because there is no qualified internal candidates.

In one case, someone was in the development track for over ten years... worked all the way up from the bottom. Earned multiple degrees and served in an interim executive position for over a year. Management placed several obstacles, which almost guaranteed failure and then they went outside for the permanent hire. Great morale boast for the rest of us.

    Pros

Health and Dental Benefits are better than most with many wellness incentives available throughout each year.

    Cons

Hiring and transferring is based on who you are, rather than what you can do. Because of this there is usually one or two people in each department doing all the work for equal or less pay.
