I have been working at Catalent Pharma full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

The pay is decent. That is all that can be said from as subjective a point of view as possible.

Cons

The decent pay comes at the expense of flexibilty, work-life balance, or incentives other than money: recognition, promotion, etc. It is a very controlling environment that all but underscores what is wrong with a corporate, MBA, jurist approach to business.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your oligarchic management styles stifle the true growth and innovation you claim to champion. If you fail to recognize the people who work for you are people, first and foremost, you run the risk of extinction. Stop setting your workers up to fail. The implicit message is you don't care. Profit only matters so much.

    Pros

Progressive pharmaceutical company that has kept up with industry standards.

    Cons

Long hours and hard work, lots of friction between department, especially Quality Assurrance and manufacturing. Very political. Bring your game face-no crybabies wanted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a little more time on the floor and see the "troops".

I worked at Catalent Pharma full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Diverse work force, challenging work and customers. There are opportunities to improve many processes and procedures. The vacation is fairly generouse (just don't expect to be able to use it all) and the medical/dental coverage is average. They have cookies on Fridays.

    Cons

No caeer development, only training on different techniques to fill in for the other cogs that are continually leaving. Continually pulling work forward to pad monthly numbers instead of using that time to improve efficiencies. And those padded numbers help management make their bonus of which most salaried employees are eligible for. And the continual pandering by senior manangement about engagement, improvement, development, etc - the lip service is annoying and incessant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have benefitted from a workforce that is under- and unemployed in an economy that is starting to improve. You need to address the real problem of emplyee satisfactioin and retention - there are permanent emplyees that would rather take a chance on temporary/contract positions at other companies than continue to work at Catalent. Stop pandering and act (you know what your employee satisfaction rating is) or own your inaction and continue to drive to metrics for the sake of metrics, not to improve quality or efficiency.
