I have been working at Catalina Marketing full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Creative and intelligent people. Flexible schedules and nice facilities. Company hosts various employee appreciation events throughout the year. Covered parking.

Cons

Cultural challenges prohibit real transformational change. Executive management team has changed within the past 18 months and too many organizational changes have resulted in loss of critical systems knowledge. Morale is low, direction shifts frequently and employees feel undervalued. No real leaders, confidence in the C suite gets lower by the day.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a direction and commit to it. Give your people the tools to succeed and then get out of their way.

    Pros

The company is taking steps to turn it's targeted offers from simply a print-in-store model to a multi channel digital model as well. It's a rather stable company to work for.

    Cons

Employees are expected to grow the current business model AND innovate and change at a rapid pace. There is a lot of desperation and willingness to cut corners. There are very little investment in delivery teams and the investment is going into Product Management and other high level jobs. The technology platform seems to be poorly put together due to cutting corners.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in resources. Invest in training. Invest in the employees that have the experience and skillset to deliver your goals.

I have been working at Catalina Marketing full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Truly visionary CEO in Jamie Egasti. He understands and is excellent in conveying the direction of the company and what we need to do to get there. A solid "people person" and captain of the ship.

    Cons

Highly disorganized IT department. New CTO brought in many Directors and VPs that created duplicity at the management level. Too many managers with too much say. IT Micromanages to the point of atrophy. Stressful work environment. Value of incumbent staff is disregarded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The business and business direction of the company is spot-on. IT morale and performance is a serious issue that can adversely affect this company's ability to deliver in 2013.
