Growth and Opportunity in a Great Environment

    Pros

Catalina is a forward moving company that offers great opportunity to those that are willing to work hard. Work-life balance is a priority and, depending on department need and job responsibilities, the company allows the occasional work from home days and flexible schedules. There is a focus on employee growth and management tries to prepare all employees for the next level. The office has a relaxed atmosphere and everyone is extremely friendly.

    Cons

Some departments/teams have a "that's not my job" way of thinking that slows down production. Management is trying to fix this but progress is slow.

Changes are sometime implemented before the process plan for the change is created. This makes the change a struggle at first.

Lower lever management does not have a lot of authority which slows down the decision making process even for small decisions. Everything must be approved from above.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach your employees to walk before they run. Figure out the process before implementation for planned changes. This will help employees move through the change curve faster and smoother.

    All that glitters isn't gold.

    Pros

Most of the employees are super friendly- I made lasting relationships and the "work/life balance" culture was really nice in comparison to my past work experiences. The CEO seems to be a genuine person and is a true "team player".

    Cons

Some may call it the "ol boys club" mentality...my personal experience was straight out of "Mean Girls" the movie. Middle management is lacking in real experience and skills...buys into the "sorority clique" way of treating employees. If you are not liked by the "mean girls" you will not succeed- in spite of how hard you work. Fraternization and office politics are keeping this company from truly becoming the successful organization they are striving so hard to be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop acting out of fear. Listen to your intuition- seeing the bigger picture will help you be a successful manager. Treat your employees with the same trust and kindness you would want for yourself.
