Pros

Give you a tremendous amount of experience in the rotational program. It's also ranked 9th in the country.

Cons

Expect you to work at least 45 hours/week with no compensation for overtime.

Advice to Management

Higher pay for strenuous hours put in.

I have been working at Caterpillar full-time

    Pros

Very good balance of life and work. Great benefits and easy to schedule time off when needed. Great place to learn LEAN manufacturing, SAP, 5S, and active Continuous Improvement.

    Cons

Section managers work based off their own personal agenda's. Very low pay for the assemblers. Performance based pay is based off the whole plant including the temp workers who receive no bonus(and thus no motivation other than getting by on minimal input). Wages were at $17hr but were reduced (only assemblers took a pay reduction NOT management) to $12hr with a very slow progression up to 14.50$

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the temp service! Hire your employees on full time. Raise the starting wages for assemblers and don't compare wages from local factories so that you can attract best possible employees. With better employees less management will be needed since there is already a excellent training process in place.

Good mix of overly-patriotic baby boomers and H1B1 holders

    Pros

Decent wage, good opportunities for a healthy work/life balance if you apply it, stable but boring company

    Cons

(See title of review). Old-school baby boomers nearing retirement and/or death holding on until the economy picks up, and good influx of H1B1 holders waiting for their turn in line to become a U.S. citizen, sponsored by CAT. Kind of the norm these days and not really a generalization if it's true, right? Just put on your diversity training hat and tread lightly. Leave your true self at home as it is likely to get you in trouble.

    Advice to Management

Grow a pair and stick up for your employees.
