I have been working at Caterpillar as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Excellent work environment. Everyone is really friendly and the full time employees/mentors are very helpful. Caterpillar has great training software too. It's as if you get paid to take free classes in Pro Engineer (CAD), Pro Mechanica (FEA), or whatever you may be working with. The majority of projects are fun, challenging, and overall great experience.

Cons

Depending on whether there are projects available or at some points in between projects you may have to do some maintenance work.

Approves of CEO

I worked at Caterpillar full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Caterpillar does value the hard work of its employees, especially those that go above and beyond.

    Cons

When business slows down they begin filtering out good individuals for minor infractions that in the "busy season" would have gone unnoticed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When good people come along and want more responsibility and have proven themselves worthy, give then the chance. Experience is just as valuable as a degree.
