I have been working at Caterpillar as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    1. Lots of experienced engineers
    2. Lots of entry level opportunites

    Cons

    3. Large Power System Division workload is too much.
    1. Old guys in this company makes conservative policies.
    2. This company is trying to save money on people by eliminating contractor from getting full time jobs but this end up of spending more money on training new guys.
    4. For H1b: Legal department is very very slow on greencard and they are PROUD of being slow.
    5. Peoria is not a cheap city.
    6. CEO Doug is promoting his so called "deep expertise" policy that slows down people's growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do things to attract more young people. When baby boomer retires in the next few years this company will face a lot of trouble if you dont change your conservative policy.
