I have been working at Catholic Health Initiatives full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Lot's of sharp people and upper management is all about people working to succeed. If you work hard, you will be recognized and grow quickly in the company.

Cons

Very profittable NON profit organization. Focused a bit too much on money. They are looking to sell nearly all IT help to some India company to save money.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the local IT around. Happy workers make happy patients which makes more money for the company.

I have been working at Catholic Health Initiatives full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

It's nice to work for a healthcare organization where you feel like you're helping people (or supporting the people that help people). CHI is a large company with a lot of money, so you can usually get the resources you need. Benefits are decent but healthcare is a little below average considering this is a HEALTHCARE provider...

    Cons

Management at most levels is incompetent. There is a total lack of vision and reliance on consultants to get anything done. Most managers are in a CYA mode. There are a ton - I mean a TON - of meetings, sometimes just to figure out when another meeting could be scheduled. Hospitals function independently, so everyone has their own processes and procedures. RICE (Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, Excellence) values are constantly stressed, but management ignores them as soon as they feel like they can save a dollar.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow a back bone. Make a decision and stick with it, even if it's the wrong one. At least you made a decision. Listen to your employees. Actually live your values instead of just talking about them.

I have been working at Catholic Health Initiatives full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The Benefits are pretty good. Educational assistance, Health Care Assistance, decent insurance, Lots of days off 26 for lumped sick and holiday.

    Cons

They don't value thier IT very much. Hence the outsourcing of lots of jobs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Outsourcing in healthcare industry is a bad idea that will backfire on them.
