I have been working at Catholic Health Initiatives full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The company has a good mission statement, pays well and has good benefits

    Cons

Core Values are not observed, Mangers and Directors have no clue on what they are doing nor do they care. Managers are untruthful to suit their own agenda. There is not enough synergy, positive energy, team work or friendliness.

Very much a cult or clique environment where the old school does not want new fresh ideas even though the strategy is innovation and accountability. It's all lip service. They actually target to squeeze out progress. Workers from other depressed states where CHI is the only good paying employer will stab you in the back. I saw one employee that the manager raved about come in from out of state to work and all he did was play video games on his company issued phone all day. He was then promoted as he was a friend of the manager. Favoritism is off the charts in this organization.

The management team have no people skills, they label employees as having a" bad attitude" when they are the ones who have the problem. They use this management ploy to terminate employees & actually feel good doing it.

Lack of mid-level leadership driving the day to day operations forward to align with executive leadership's vision and mission. Some serious IT issues for such a large organization. Growth appears to be too fast paced, lacking a thorough integration strategy post-acquisition. Promotion seems based on who you know rather than what you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire real vested executives and managers rather than contractors.

I worked at Catholic Health Initiatives full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Lots of variety in clinical challenges

    Cons

Standard of care appears to be centered right at mediocre and anyone exceeding that level of care is summarily driven away by the incompetent or uncaring long standing providers. There is very little concern for the well being of patients. During my tenure there were over a dozen very good physicians who left after abuse from the old timers. The hospital leadership sees nothing wrong with a physician b wing abusive to nurses, humiliating them, blaming them for his errors, hurting patients, and in general being a disruptive force within the organization. Nurses are not respected and are not recognized for their efforts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring in outside experts to investigate what is really going on with your medical staff and take out the dangerous doctor who will do more harm than good.
