I have been working at Catholic Health System

Pros

The best thing about this place is the health care benefits, but they will cost you about $150 per pay.

Cons

If you are lucky, your manager is clueless and just doesn't care about anything but has no skills to manage. If you are unlucky, your boss will make your life miserable.

Training is non-existent. Promotions? What are they?

PTO is used for sick time and holidays. Holidays are 5x/ year. If you need time off and have no PTO, you will hear about it.

Staff is miserable, nosy, and backstabbing. You can bet they will go through your personal items, when you are not around, and take what they please.

Forget transferring to another department. Your current department will not let you leave.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue and start dumping some of the dead weight that has been hanging on for 20-30 years.

I have been working at Catholic Health System

    Pros

My co-workers. Family is always first. They are genuinely concerned regarding your and your family's well being.

    Cons

Constant push to see more patients - increase our productivity. This leads to a decline in patient care. You can see the stress within and between departments, again, this leads to a decrease in patient care. Supposedly, we are all on the same team and have our patients' best interest at heart. Our direct supervisors see this, and are wonderful. Yet, as you climb the 'management' ladders, they seem to forget the reason we all went into healthcare..... to help and care....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember why you hired us in the first place. We know our jobs and our limits. Now you need to let us do what we do best. The constant push to 'increase' productivity' may look good on paper, but in the long run....? It results in an overall decline in patient care.....

I worked at Catholic Health System

    Pros

Decent pay, depending on what floor you work on it can be a great working environment, very focused on promoting from within, considering that they are non-union they are very good about hiring inernally first and providing opportunities for promotions and career advancement

    Cons

nursing supervisors are very disorganized and overwhelmed, certain floors are toxic, miserable work environments mainly because of charge nurses on power trips

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on improving the environment and on adjusting the attitude of charge nurses. Train new/per diem nursing supervisors better before allowing them to be on their own where they end up floundering
