No opportunity for growth

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

ProsSome very smart people to work with in EIS who get things done despite of management. Large budget (if you're in the right groups) and can be sent to conferences.

Cedars is a great place to work if you just want to skate by, doing the minimum necessary to pull in a salary. You will not be fired as long as you continue to "meet expectations".

ConsNo personal career growth. When I first started at Cedars, I was very impressed with all the folks that had been working there for 10+ years. i thought it would be a place that I could be a lifer at. Then I realized that those folks were still doing the same thing for their entire career at Cedars.

Promotions based on tenure instead of ability. Promotions to a management role from existing employees is rare, it seems that they would rather hire from outside to fill these positions.

CTO has been with Cedars his entire career and is out of touch with today's way to run an IT department.

A lot of talent leaving due to frustration.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote from within based on talent and ability. Become better at recognizing the good employees that you cannot afford to lose. For upper management, show some spine and stand up to the CTO.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
