I have been working at Cengage Learning full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Great people, good products. A feeling of satisfaction and financial well-being in the years where my sales targets were reached.

Cons

Loss of self-confidence and motivation in the years where i don't hit my sales goal. Unreasonable sales goals. Cap on bonuses. Inside sales reps make less and have fewer perks than field reps and it's blatantly unfair.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay us more. Something fishy is going on in upper management

    I worked at Cengage Learning full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Company had okay benefits, including decent vacation policy.

    Cons

    Bad management, bad decisions, constant reorganizations...but never the right ones. Very unprofessional human resources. The department I worked in cared more about you being buddies with your co-workers than you doing a quality job. No one was ever held accountable for their mistakes...and there were a lot of them. Ineptitude is valued more, because that way the managers can always look smarter...even if they haven't a clue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get rid of middle managers...or at least look into certain ones who haven't a clue and keep ignorant employees on board. There is so much secrecy and cover-ups going on and constant promotion of people who don't ever do a lick of work. The ignorance of upper management as to these shenanigans is amazing.
