Pros

Great people, Excellent HR Department, good building, good benefits

Cons

Morale has declined as a company over the years, largely due to layoffs. Management higher up could use some help, though I hear that's in the works. Was also underpaid

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lose sight of your employee's needs and morale while focusing on fixing the company

    I have been working at Cengage Learning full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    This company has great product lines however the inability of the marketing department does not allow the investment and development of the product lines to be actualized. This company has many talented and dedicated employees above mid management and below the mid management levels.

    Cons

    The overwhelming obstacle to this company is poor and unprofessional mid management. Managers are not inspiring nor do they offer quality traits which should be found in leadership.
    The mid and upper management that has been in place for several years continually protect themselves and the long time "friends of managers".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Advice to management would be directed to the CEO and new leadership at Cengage Learning. To actually improve the quality of the company and increase revenue it will require reinvesting in division leaders, regional managers and district managers. A sales team can never be stronger than the immediate managers.

    Pros

    The company was one of the best in the industry and that has now changed! The management was at one time the best in the industry. There was pride, and respect that came with being a success at Cengage Learning.People make the company!

    Cons

    Too much change all at once now everyone is in fear of their future and the companies as well , The sharks a circling the tank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Your sales force is the driving force and don't forget this!
