Pros

Vacation policy- a positive and a negative. Far too many 55+ people still working there because they get almost half the year off. This leaves little room for advancement.

Cons

Far too many people in positions that they shouldn't be in because they are sadly lacking in experience. The company won't hire many experienced people and ends up with poorly trained people lacking knowledge and understanding. It leans too heavily on senior people to train people and it is never ending. The company could care less about making money or losing money especially in commercial departments.

Advice to Management

Realize that you are no longer a gas company and stop putting gas people into crude oil positions that they have no business being in. Far too many people in the company think it is a country club and don't know what hard work is. Some of senior management are great. Most of them are sadly lacking in crude oil experience and knowledge.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Strong governance and innovative technically Great corporate culture - 2 golden Friday's a month Work hard/play hard ethics

    Cons

Recently split from EnCana, then did an internal IT department re-org, and now currently outsourcing their IT department to HP. That's a lot of change for a company not yet 2 years old. IT Contractors are leaving, IT employees are being let go, and the business is suffering as a result. It takes longer to get things done now, as there are too many new people in IT and not enough hours in the day to get all the support issues taken care of, train the new HP outsource individuals, and take on many new projects. This is a shame, because after close to a year-long IT freeze in '09 preceding the split from EnCana, the back log of IT requests for new or upgraded systems (i.e. business demand) is significant. The organization as a whole is not getting value from their IT dollars at present, and probably won't for several months to a year after the outsource agreement with HP is implemented. Then we'll see.

    Advice to Management

Minimize chaos in your support organization, or your primary business will suffer.

    Pros

Vacation policy and 1st and 3rd Fridays off Involved in some very interesting projects One of the largest Producers which makes them the big player

    Cons

No room for advancement in the company - too many older people (because of the great vacation policy) that will not leave. Too many people are put into positions that they have no business being in (not enough knowledge or oil background). As a result, senior people are expected to do far too much training because so many people are in positions they should be in. Senior management and executive team is mostly clueless with regard to the oil industry (mostly ex-gas people from EnCana with no idea about oil.

    Advice to Management

Newflash: You are now an Oil company! Stop taking incompetent gas people and putting them into oil jobs that require experience and knowledge.
