Pros

Surprisingly impressive client list for such a small company; good pay

Cons

There is absolutely no training, professional development or career potential. This is simply a Body Shop operation that provides staff augmentation wherever they can.

Advice to Management

Provide insight into the financials of the company to your employees. For such a small company, it should not be so formal, hierarchical and political.

    Pros

    Centerline is a specialized consultancy operating in a niche market the opportunities of which are starting to be noticed by larger consulting firms.
    - Centerline offers a highly competitive compensation package.
    - Has an impressive client list and they maintain excellent relationships with all of their clients
    - Provides excellent opportunities to grow, take on more responsibility and get hands on experience in new areas
    - As is typical with consulting firms there is not an "office culture" but the staff is made up of seasoned professionals who work hard for the clients and each other
    - Again, while typical consulting workloads are heavier than your average 9-5 Centerline still maintains a very good work/life balance for their employees.

    Cons

    Centerline is a small consultancy, and there are some key differences between a smaller firm and the big consultancies. These are not necessarily cons, but differences to be aware of:
    - Some processes and operations are more complicated or more cumbersome because this is a small firm and doesn't have the IT infrastructure and support of a large consultancy.
    - As with most consulting firms, travel is sometimes required. The two offices are in the Metro New York and Boston areas, and this is where the majority of the clients are located but sometimes travel is required to other locations. Centerline follows the common travel schedule of Monday AM - Thursday PM at the client site for those employees that have to travel.
    - A smaller firm means more exposure, which is awesome when you perform and excel but highlights shortcomings when you don't. Everyone is invested in the success of their projects and the firm overall. People who are not team players are not tolerated.
    - There are two major metro areas serviced: NJ and Boston. Consultants need to be willing to travel to clients in both areas - but it is typically a Monday AM to Thursday PM on-site schedule

    Advice to Management

    - The workforce would benefit from an improvement in top-down communications
    - The company and it's workforce would benefit from an increase in consistency across roles and responsibilities.

    Pros

    - Very marketable, differentiated methodology;
    - Competitive compensation;
    - Good relationships with Fortune 500 clientele with senior management sponsorship;
    - Exposure to interesting project work primarily in the Pharmaceutical and Financial Services industries;
    - Staff works well together and delivery teams seem to have good morale;
    - Good work-life balance with minimal activities required outside of normal work hours

    Cons

    - It is a small firm that is carefully managed. Candidates need to be realistic about working at a small firm and should realize they are joining a demanding meritocracy not a fortune 500 firm or a global services firm. Small firms can be a refreshing place to work but be realistic - you won't have the perks of a larger employer
    - If you are a B player or (more critically) your team members don't think you carry your weight or you are annoying/unpleasant to work with - then you will be scrutinized when you hit the bench and it probably won't work out for you
    - There are two major metro areas serviced: NJ and Boston. Consultants need to be willing to travel to clients in both areas - but it is typically a Monday AM to Thursday PM on-site schedule

    Advice to Management

    - The owners act as expected for a small firm that is managed in a fiscally conservative fashion
    - They could communicate better across accounts and across the firm
