Current Employee - Coordinator in Mount Pleasant, MI

Pros

Beautiful Campus, great benefits, nice city. Flexibility and great work life balance.

Cons

Sometimes questionable upper management. Top heavy organization. Typical college town where the quaintness is sometimes disturbed by the rowdiness of college students.

    Pros

The best thing about working for Central Michigan is scheduling availability. Working with generally good people. Learning new things all the time.

    Cons

Receiving too much negative feedback. Supervisors are 'old school' and don't realize that their managerial styles are out dated and new approaches need to be taken.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be nice to receive more recognition for the tasks that you do well instead of always being criticized for not doing something good enough.

Current Employee - Student Employee in Mount Pleasant, MI

    Pros

It is an educational institution, so many highly educated individuals work there. There is always someone, somewhere, than can answer your questions if you have one.

    Cons

It's a public institution, so every penny that is spent is scrutinized. There is often money appropriated to things that don't matter at the expense of things that do--like IT.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In my department--it's phenomenal. In other departments, not so much. The administration is probably the most incompetent, at least there is a Board of Trustees and the community to press back after poor decisions.
