Pros

I really hate that my job ended at the Old St. Francis , because I loved working for Centura there. I sure wish that I could get back with that company.

Cons

I have nothing bad to say about the company. I loved working for this company. For example, As a employee I fund out that I had BREAST CANCER my supervisor was more helpful to me have my surgeries, plus I had a elderly sick mother and she was always at my side with that situation.

I have been working at Centura Health full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Centura is a dedicated Health Care management organization. On the IT side, there are some really great people and typically everyone's mindset is always on improving and providing better services for the clinicians.

    Cons

    Specific to IT,
    1) lack of long-term strategy shared with teams,
    2) Knee-jerk reactions to get things implemented rather than saying NO and determining where it may fit into the long-term staretegy (which doesn't exist)
    3) Hero mentality of swooping in at the last minute to save the day (it happens so often it is expected)
    4) Old-guard still in place and dictating - no collaboration evident at leadership levels
    5) Resource constrained - people and equipment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop and communicate a long term strategy
Move old-guard out and get some fresh ideas
Set a budget and stick to it

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to gain experience and build up your resume. Direct manager is very competent and a good leader. Management does a good job of communication to its employees.

    Cons

Pay is well below comparable positions elsewhere. Everyone I know is overworked due to ongoing expansions and projects without hiring additional help. Benefits are expensive and vacation time is hard to take due to too much workload.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not sure the cons i listed is something IT management can fix. I feel they are doing the best with the limited resources they are given.
